Wow, it must be true - it comes straight from the top!
Comment by fuckyou — December 16, 2005 @ 8:24 am
I seriously doubt that an on-site repair technician has weekly conference calls with ‘top level execs’. This sounds like pure bullshit…
Comment by Repair Grunt — December 16, 2005 @ 8:28 am
Thanks Mr.X I really sure do appreciate the insider info.
Comment by R — December 16, 2005 @ 8:33 am
Oh and one last thing….blow it out your ass!
We’ll see what’s going to take place but I say they will.
Comment by R — December 16, 2005 @ 8:34 am
As stupid as this story is it’s even more stupid considering how badly you write. Stop discussing tech and go take english 101 at your local college.
Comment by dan — December 16, 2005 @ 8:43 am
It would be nice if you could check you English. Specially the difference between words “their” and “there”. As it is your text is really difficult to read since you mix the meaning of these words all the time. Thanks.
Comment by Just a guy — December 16, 2005 @ 9:02 am
You are so full of shit. Yeah, some repair guy has meetings with top execs. Why did you write this, dumb-dumb-head? (I tailored the insult to your level, which I’m guessing is elementary school judging from your writing skills)
Comment by WTF — December 16, 2005 @ 9:38 am
All the insulting comments posted so far are completely un-needed!
Picking someone up on grammatical errors no one fucking cares about? Grow up.
“You are so full of shit. Yeah, some repair guy has meetings with top execs”
How the hell would you know? It seems perfectly plausible since he is talking about AppleCare reps in particular.
All that aside, this post is speculation and should be considered in that light. Getting your knickers in a twist because you disagree is dumb as.
Don’t forget, Apple’s roadmap says june 2006. As much as they like to surprise us, I seriously doubt they would launch intel-macs this early. There are developers still working on universal binaries and a myriad of other issues to deal with. For example, which intel chips are going into them? The real tasty stuff is some way off yet, at least according to intel.
Comment by Mr eel — December 16, 2005 @ 10:03 am
Ok, if they aren’t going to release them at Macworld then when are they going to do it. At WWDC 2005 Jobs said they they would have Intel based Macs shipped by WWDC 2006. Sure they could have a special meeting just to release them but I would think that Apple would rather do it at one of their major events.
Comment by Thomas — December 16, 2005 @ 10:08 am
Or it could be “don’t go, we want press there instead of you.” But in my professional opinion he’s full of shit.
Comment by Stu — December 16, 2005 @ 10:26 am
Maybe they simply want to throw us off. Who knows, we shall see. If they don’t release the Intel systems January, I think they will this June. Hopefully, however, they DO release it in January.
Comment by Daniel Jackson — December 16, 2005 @ 10:30 am
Riiiiiiiight, and when a lot of the mainstream media outlets picked up on the Intel iBooks story and ran with it, they were just going on hunches and coincidences. You think major news outlets like to be embarrassed by their predictions?
Comment by Mike Rundle — December 16, 2005 @ 10:59 am
I have been one of the many it professionals working with apple to produce the intel platform. As far as i know they will be announcing it in early april just in case there are many more bugs than anticipated. I wouldnt expect anything at macworld.
Comment by c — December 16, 2005 @ 11:26 am
This is bullshit. Apple doesn’t tell its employees jack shit about upcoming products unless they’re on the dev team.
And by the way, it’s “you’re” not “your” for “you are.”

Apple dice que no esperemos que saquen sus máquinas con Intel y ni tan siquiera esperar ningún ordenador nuevo, será verdad u otra de sus técnicas de distracción?

I am an AppleCare certified tech, and I know that you don’t have meetings with execs… and we don’t know anything that comes out before it’s released… the DAY something comes out… we get the take apart pdf’s for the system later that day or a few days after.
this dude is a douche bag.
Comment by MacGenius — December 16, 2005 @ 1:40 pm
I always thought Mac geeks as a rather relaxed type of computer user who could rest their eyes gently on the attempts of a young man who tries to gain some attention - obviously I’m wrong.

I am Steve Jobs and I KNOW that I don’t let Tech Support know wether they should or should not attend Macworld. So the above MUST be wrong.
But who knows.

You people are morons who worry about grammer on the internet. If you understand what is being said then wonderful. If your mind is so simple as to not be able to comprehend because of it…you should shut up and go away. You bring down the level of communication with your useless banter. Shut up.

I can see why these people want to correct the author’s grammar (at John). The reason being, is because incorrect grammar makes you look toolish, and makes your story less believable because you are a moron. People need to learn how to use the King’s English correctly. Otherwise they come off looking uneducated. The people that are correcting his grammar are doing him a favor (despite the rude comments therein).
That said, this article is complete bullshit. Apple will release Intel based Macs (specifically the old G4 based models) at Macworld San Francisco 2006 this January. If you don’t believe me then you just better get a life right now, because Steve Jobs is my Uncle and he told me so.
Comment by Justin — December 16, 2005 @ 3:14 pm
Actually, my executive staff and I talk to all the technicians every week here at apple. Most of the time, we have nothing better to do. I like to check in, and see how those repair techs are doing. Yes, that is correct, I told them not to go to Macworld, but it’s because I think Al Qaeda will be their. I don’t want them to lose there lives over an announcement that Macs are actually moving to AMD chips.
Comment by Steve Jobs — December 16, 2005 @ 3:30 pm
Hmm how do we know that it’s not really you Steve? Because it’s “Al Qaeda will be there”, not “Al Qaeda will be their” You jackass!

People do care very much about grammatical errors. If something is so poorly written that it requires “interpretation” by the reader, then the author’s message is going to be completely lost in the reader’s frustration. Misusing “their/there” and “you’re/your” makes it look like an elementary school child wrote the article, thereby further taking away any credibility the author may have earned him/herself.
Translation: No author can have the appearance of authority over a topic without the ability to convey that topic both effectively and efficiently.

Sorry bozo, but we don’t tell anyone ahead of time whether we will or will not announce hardware. There are about a dozen people in the world who know what’s coming. And whoever this person is who represents himself as talking to upper management at Apple is just trying to impress you. Did he also tell you he has a pre-release Blue-Ray version of Cars to show you too?
Comment by Steve Jobs — December 16, 2005 @ 3:57 pm
Thank you J.Michael, I couldn’t have said it better myself.

If Wall street analysts are saying that Apple will release intel products…it means nothing. But if:
1. Wall Street analysts are saying Apple will release intel products
2. which pushes Apple’s stock up
3. and Jobs knew that this wasn’t true…
well then he would have let the public know, so his stocks don’t nosedive and he doesn’t get press from hell in January.

Hey, comment number 8: You should check your English. Especially the difference between the words “specially” and “especially”.
And John: You say “You people are morons who worry about grammer [sic] on the internet [sic]…You bring down the level of communication with your useless banter.” So I guess we shouldn’t worry about grammar in books either? Or newspapers? I guess it’s cool to just write and spell however we want, who cares if people can understand it or not. In that case we might as well stop teaching our kids how to write properly since it’s all just a waste of time anyway. They can use that extra time to play video games or something.

Well just chill out guys (and girls if there are any)! We wll all get a post christmas treat whatever it might be!
And regarding grammar and spelling I think you should remember that the net is an nternational place and not everyone has got English as their mothertounge. So show a little tolerance, just imagine if you had to post in Hungarian, French or Esperanto;-)
Have sweet hollidays
